Anthony of Padua, The Nativity

The naked child and kneeling mother picture the scene as described by St. Bridget of Sweden. The star pointing to the Christ Child accommodates the arrival of the Magi on the left. Anthony of Padua is of course not the saint but an Istrian painter (1529-73).
